Students On Ship Tossed By Giant Wave

This Video shows a soaked and paper-strewn lobby with furniture slamming into students, some of whom are screaming and tossed about like dolls. The MV Explorer had left Alaska and was headed toward the Koreas and Japan when it ran into very heavy weather. A 50-foot wave smashed the ship and disabled it last week. Several of its engines were knocked out. A member of the crew and a faculty member were injured. "The waves were crashing. There was a green glow to the waves. They were going over our window. They were hitting our windows and you just didn't know what was going to happen next," student David Welch said. Hours later, through e-mail, Justin's family in Leola learned about the trouble at sea. "He said it was incredible. They were just one command away from abandoning ship. At that point they had everyone assembled. They had moved the guys to the back in preparation for that. They were constantly briefing them on what to do," said Lynne Stoltzfus, Justin's mother. The Coast Guard and neighboring ships were signaled, and for a time there was little else to be done. Watch the Video Full Story From WGAL Semester At Sea Updates - Official Website

Yahoo And Google Offer Video Searches on Web

First Yahoo offered a beta release of Video Search and now they are joined by Google. As video becomes a more prominent portion of internet content more and more search engines be queried in search of the latest online videos. It's good to see both leaders headed in that direction. Now the key is to get your feeds into their que so they can index any videos on your blog. Extreme Research Corp.: Jerry Clark

Professional Speaker Jerry Clark speaking at a recent Extreme Research Corp event in Dallas Tx. Extreme Research Corp.: Jerry Clark: "This example was shot with a hand held digital camera in low light conditions. Even though it was a difficult environment, the message still comes through quite well. The Fisher Camera records in an MP4 format which can be directly compressed and uploaded without any conversion."

FileStreams Demo Account: Dr Stan Harris

Dr Stan Harris speaking at a live event for EcoQuest in 2001. FileStreams Demo Account: Dr Stan Harris: "This presentation was converted from a VHS tape. Even though the entire presentation was compressed down to 44.2MB (broadband version) it maintains a great level of quality similar to a DVD conversion. Normally a presentation like this would be segmented into 4-5 minute segments so they load faster (especially important for dialup). At the end of each segment it automatically forwards to the next segment, so the presentation remains seamless."

FileStreams Demo: GM Commercial

FileStreams Demo: GM Commercial: "High Impact TV Commercials are one of the most challenging formats to work with due to the extreme camera angles and intense motion. The original file was a mov ( 12.4 MB, 400x316 Pixels ), by compressing it we were able to reduce it to 6.3 MB in size. In order to maintain the quality of the video we reduced the video size by 25% to 300x237. 25% reduction in viewing area is an excellent tradeoff for reducing the file size by nearly 50%."

Add Video To Your Blog

Video Blogs are becoming all the rage as it's the most cost effective way to drive thousands of viewers to your blog. However, the video streaming service that is best for you depends upon what type of video you want to stream and how much experience you have with video software. In general, using Flash-based video is much more cost effective since it doesn't require a streaming media server. Services such as InstantVideoGenerator allow you to record directly to the server using a webcam. This service is based on Flash Communication Server and is very convenient if you simply want to be able to talk to your subscribers and give them updates. If you want to be able to upload and encode existing movies or movies from a digital camera or other source, then you need to use a software program such as Sorenson Squeeze to convert the file to an flv file before uploading it to InstantVideoGenerator. If you don't have much experience working with Video it can be an incredibly frustrating experience. In this case, you should consider using a service such as FileStreams that will convert the videos for you and place them online. They only offer business accounts right now, but will be expanding into simple hosting accounts shortly.
